Creating modern day Rocket Scientists and Picasso’s begins at home when the opportunity for exploration and creation are fostered. Allowing children to dig out scraps from the basement, garage and “junk drawers” will give the nascent creator plenty of challenges to build not only creativity and intelligence, but fine motor skills as well!
Using simple construction toys/materials, crafts and household activities lead to building endurance and proficiency in fine motor abilities. Tapping away at electronic devices only strengthens a limited number of muscles. To develop sophisticated fine motor control, a variety of fine motor experiences should be pursued.
